When the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign was launched 15 years ago, Canadian grandmothers pledged to act in solidarity with African grandmothers facing the challenge of raising a generation of children orphaned by the HIV and AIDS pandemic.  In the absence of other means of support, community-based organizations sprang up to run programs that provide grandmothers with the financial, psychosocial and basic resources they needed to secure a healthy, happy future for their families.

We’ve kept our pledge! To date, over $36 million dollars has been raised collectively by the Grandmothers Campaign, which has been put to use by African grandmothers and community-based organizations, the experts on the ground.

Even during this challenging time, when COVID-19 has brought much uncertainty to the world, we have been blown away by the tremendous generosity of our friends, family, and community. Let’s continue this impact, together. With your donation, the African grandmothers supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s partner organizations can continue the urgent work they are doing to safeguard decades of progress made against the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
