This working group focuses on educating VG4A members and the public about our group, the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF), the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign (G2G), amazing grandmothers throughout Africa and the community-based organizations where they work. Education members:
Deliver presentations to community groups and give lessons in schools and colleges
Prepare educational moments for our general meetings to increase awareness of the Campaign
Create and maintain educational materials for displays, hand-outs and lending -- display boards, brochures, bookmarks, banners, videos, DVDs and the VG4A lending library
Set up tables at events and distribute educational materials
Attend Welcome Gatherings to introduce the group to new members, provide a newcomers’ information package, and welcome newcomers at meetings
The Education team recently facilitated a presentation at Tapestry Victoria Harbour and a bead-making workshop at Hillcrest Elementary School, creating awareness of African grandmothers (and beautiful paper bead necklaces) with dozens of Victoria seniors and students.
